Clayton Center for the Arts

The Clayton Center for the Arts is a two building complex located on the campus of Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. Ranging in size from 23,000 to 109,000 square feet, the center is state and privately funded. The project is a cooperation of the City of Maryville, the City of Alcoa, and Maryville College.

Both buildings are sound critical / sound sensitive buildings with a large amount of equipment. To ensure sound integrity a “room within a room” design was used for the Center’s practice rooms. The buildings include a 1,200-seat performance hall, a 250-seat recital hall, a 200-seat flexible theatre, a grand lobby offering a 250-capacity dining area, three gallery/exhibit spaces and an outdoor arts plaza that can be used for special events.
